I’ve been volunteering with Blue Sky Fund’s (Franklin Military Academy) Outdoor Adventure Club. They meet once a week and before heading home each girl tells the group their “rose, bud, thorn” (something that was good that day or week, something they’re looking forward to, and something that wasn’t so good). Every week most of them say their “bud” is the camping trip. Blue Sky Fund takes their OACs on a camping trip twice a year and man-oh-man do they have fun! This past weekend we camped at Big Meadows campground in Shenandoah National Park. Despite the thunderstorm during our dinner, which had us all huddling under a tarp to eat, it was still tons of fun. The next morning we took a wonderful hike up to Bearfence viewpoint. It’s a bit of a rock scramble towards the top which was a little challenge but the girls helped each other through it all. There were sweeping 360 degree views at the pinnacle. The bus ride home was much quieter than the day before (which was 2.5 hours of all the girls singing haha)… they were all asleep! I took a lot of photos!
